| (2) sand casting in spite of the fact that a die casting is called for on the L.O.P. and also on no machining or drilling jigs being used. It is, therefore, clear that as a comparison of the costs of the two designs these figures are misleading, both from an ultimate cost point of view, and as a means of guiding design policy. I am strongly of the opinion that the standardisation sheet should show the estimated cost for a fully tooled up job, and if any other figures are given they should be suitably qualified.
