Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Mths.{Reg Matthews}9/MH.{M. Huckerby} 1256 Messrs. Light Production Co. Ltd., 60/66 Rochester Row, Westminster, London, S.W.1. 6th. October 1937. For the attention of Mr.C.H.Brooks. Dear Sirs, We should like you to supply as early as possible 144 Rings to the attached drawing LW.1425. These rings should be similar to those already supplied by you recently, with the possible exception of the amount of taper on the face, we do not want to exceed the .001 taper by any more than is necessary in view of the increase in closed gap when the face of the ring rubs down. This appears to be the proportion of ring we require for the 4 1/4 litre Bentley to give us the same ring performance as the 3 1/2 litre, perhaps if you are at the show I may be able to give you the reason. I hope to get to the show for one day, but am not certain which day as yet. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
