To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} X300 b Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}20/KW.14.10.36. Phantom III. In order to avoid confusion between the two chassis which you are building, that is 38-EX & 39-EX, will you please work to the following programme with regard to the engine units :- 38-EX - the Long Frame Chassis - will be ready first, and the standard engine you are obtaining from the Works to be numbered No.15 unit. Following the usual bench test, this unit to be fitted in its standard form into the above chassis. 39-EX - Continental Lightened Frame Chassis. A revised and complete specification will be issued for No.14 unit for the above chassis. Until this unit is ready, however, we could be doing a lot of useful development work by fitting the following "Continental" parts which you have produced, into No.8 test bed unit, which is now in the shop - (1) Camshaft Ex.23245. (2) 4-port cylinder heads as modified to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}160 in conjunction with the induction system to suit. The exhaust passage through the heads to be blanked and a standard water heat hot-spot box to be fitted (existing on No.8 Unit is O.K.). (3) The bearings in this unit to be looked over to see if O.K. for further running. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/L.H.Swindall. | ||
