Notes of Meeting Chassis - Bentley cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Supercharging the Bentley. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said that they were measuring the efficiency of the Gresham Paige supercharger and arranging for it to be fixed up on a Bentley as soon as possible. It is generally agreed that supercharging the Bentley is the next important development and E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} will start the design work for a supercharger forthwith. RR.Chassis. PHANTOM II. 28-EX. 10,000 Miles Test Car. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said that it was expected that this car would start its test at the end of next week with the rubber engine mounting, adjustable and more silent valve tappets, riding control rod device and gearbox with synchromesh second speed. 20/25 HP. 21-G-4. 10,000 Miles test 20/25 HP. This is still running in England, the idea being that it will go away to France as soon as the rubber engine mounting scheme can be got on, which is expected to be shortly. Easier Change Gearboxes. A discussion took place and it was generally agreed that, if and when we have to make an alteration from synchromesh, it will be something better and more advanced than the Wilson Epicyclic Gearbox. A reference was made to the Spontan gears which are of an infinitely variable type and it was left that this matter would be followed up very closely. Sixes Diamond Cylinder Boring. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} stated that this was being done at the Daimler Works and also at Austin's and Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} undertook to make further enquiries in regard to this matter. | ||
