Sidgreaves - MD}28/E15.6.34 - 1 - Notes of Meeting at Derby - 14th June 1934 Present: Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}✓ HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} CHASSIS. BENTLEY. 4-B-IV. 10,000 Miles Test Car. This car, which had connecting rod failure, is now being fitted up with other parts as set out in Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/KW.12.6.34. It is expected that it will be running again shortly. Behind this car there is another 10,000 Miles Bentley being built with other items as set out in Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}18/KW.8.6.34, but no date can yet be given for this car to start. Valves -- Scheme to prevent valves dropping into cylinder - BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} said this would be standardised from the 101st chassis in "B" Series. As regards existing cars it was left for BY, E, and Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} to collaborate with a view to a scheme being available to enable the modification to be fitted without necessitating new valves, or more important still, without necessitating the cylinder head being removed, the idea being to issue a Depot Instruction Sheet for this job to be carried out on cars which come into Depots. It is understood that steps are being taken to introduce the same modification on RR chassis as soon as possible. | ||
