1245 W/P. Sr. from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}9/R.20.6.38. Dear Sr., We expect B.III to be in France fitted with pressed steel wheels about the middle of August. This car is equipped with 16" rims fitted with 6 1/2" tyres. In our opinion, it is no good doing any further work on 5 1/2 section tyres as they will be out of production before any advantage can be taken. It might be possible to discuss the whole question with Mr. Michelin when we are over with the car. If, from the point of view of propaganda purposes you would like to bring Mr. Michelin over to Derby, we should be very pleased to show him our Skid Pan, and the way we take our measurements, provided the Adminstration had no objection. I note that the streamline car will be on the road about the 28th or 29th, and shall endeavour to arrange to come over to test. Yours sincerely, | ||
