Bentley Gear Levers.

We have, on several occasions, had to modify the gear shift lever on Bentley cars by cutting them down so as to make them approximately 2" shorter than they are owing to customers' complaints of this lever getting in the way and bruising their legs on occasion.

In each instance we have charged the customer for this work, but, of course, this is rather considerable.

We, therefore, mentioned this matter to GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} when he was last over here, and he took it up with the Works.

I have just received a memo from them to the effect that this has been investigated, and that we can have the shorter levers fitted to our chassis for the Continent at an extra cost of:

11/- before erection of chassis, or
30/- after " " "

In my opinion, this short lever is a godsend as it facilitates the entry into, and exit out of the car, in addition to which it does not get in the way of the leg.

Could we, therefore, in future have this short lever on our export chassis at an extra cost of 11/- ?

Sr.
