1378 13th August, 1941. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/ST.{Capt. P. R. Strong} Lawrence POMEROY, Ltd., "The Motor", Bowling Green Lane, LONDON, E.C. 1. Dear Pomeroy, Thank you for your letter of 11th August. I am sending you, by registered post our weight analysis of the Phantom III engine. I would be glad if you would return this when you have finished with it, and also regard the general design information obtained therein as confidential, apart from the material you use for your article. Actually, the engine is not a very good example of the maximum amount of weight that can be saved by aluminium, since the cylinders are fairly widely spaced and it could have been made 8 1/2 litres for the same overall dimensions. Give me some warning before your proposed visit to Derby to get some information on silent running, because we have got somewhat involved in war work and it takes us a little time to bring our minds back to peace time projects. Yours sincerely, | ||
