Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to Edy. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} 'PEREGRINE' The general impression of the car is very favourable indeed. It is entirely different to the usual small light car. It has an essential R.R. feeling and we believe it could quickly be developed into a delightful small car. At the moment, of course, it suffers from several obvious faults - (1) Shock absorbers are very noisy. (J.3 Type). (2) Propeller shaft out of balance. We are finding difficulty in getting drawn tubes which are sufficiently in balance for high speed propeller shafts. (3) Improved crankshaft damper required. This is nearly ready. (4) Brakes thump. (5) Petrol pump failes at low speed. (6) Clutch jaggers. (7) Starter motor fails to turn the engine. (8) Exhaust system. There are modifications in hand which we hope will overcome most of these faults. We are hoping early next week to be able to bring this car to W.W. in a condition in which it will be fair to judge it. The riding of the car is very good. On a level road it will do over 70 M.P.H.
