To DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} From E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to C.T. T.D. D.Y. H.S. ORIGINAL RECEIVED X4239 EL/G3/9/21. 2 RE "GOSHAWK II" CONTROL GEAR. We send you herewith drawings Lec.1438 and LeC. shewing the throttle control mechanism and ignition control respectively. Lec.1438 will give you a good general idea of the arrangement of the control. We are, however, intending to use 3 BA rods and control joints throughout instead of 2 BA, and additionally various details required shew a certain amount of provision. The scheme, however, should enable you to rig up a car on the lines indicated, while we are sending through the final drawing which we hope to do in a few days. The second drawing shews you how we intend to carry the control through from the steering column to the ignition tower. Referring to the accelerator pedal shaft, this also requires a spring, and we are using a wire spring in torsion for this purpose. The scheme shewing this will be sent next week.
