Chassis - Re Material for second 500 chassis. Referring to your note Bn{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}15/W8819, of 8th inst. and your note Enl/W11819, of to-day's date, also the conversation I have had with you, I give you below the very latest dates for ordering materials for the items mentioned and I shall be glad if arrangements can be made to ensure that I am put in possession of information which will enable me to place orders at said dates. 1. Petrol Tank I must order all materials for the second 500 chassis at end of this month (August). 2. Wiring I am forthwith ordering the remainder of the material required for the first 500 chassis to the present scheme with Lucas distribution box etc. Material for the second 500 chassis must be ordered at end of September. 3. Rear Shock Absorbers Material for these should be ordered at the earliest possible moment. 4. Steering Column This is O.K. 5. Dynamo Dynamos for the first 500 chassis have been ordered and some have been delivered. If a different maker's dynamo is decided upon for the second 500 chassis and this entails any alteration of suspension brackets etc. I must have definite information by end of this month, but if the present pattern of suspension brackets can be used with the other maker's dynamo, the order for the dynamos themselves could be postponed until probably end of Sept. but everything of course depends upon the ability of the dynamo maker to effect delivery in the time we shall need. 6. Battery Box & Fittings The batteries for 250 chassis have been ordered and it is essential that batteries for a further 250 chassis be ordered at end of this month at latest. By that time you will probably be able to decide whether the running board position of battery box should be ordered up for a further 250 chassis and I will look to you for instructions at that time and we can then discuss the question of battery box and fittings for a further 500 chassis. | ||
