X8782 Extract EFC4/T19.8.25. 19th August, 1925. Messrs. Peto & Radford, 50, Grosvenor Gardens, London, S.W.1. X4414T For the attention of Mr. G.R.N.Minchin. Dear Sirs, I have your letter of yesterday's date with reference to the statement of the capacity of the 40/50 battery. I do not know exactly why it should have been put down as 65 to 75 ampere-hour, unless it was taken from our General Specification, which says "in the neighbourhood of 75, but certainly not less than 65 " In accordance with figures which I had already settled previous to receipt of your letter I should have given this as 70 to 80, but in view of your request I am now asking for this, as you desire, to be stated in the Instruction Book as from 75 to 80 ampere-hours. A second of the three special batteries, namely the 3c battery, has recently failed. It failed in all three cells without the ebonite separators nearly simultaneous ly, whereas the other three cells showed no sign of any fault. Further to this, the remaining battery 3a with ebonite separators in all the cells has not yet shown any sign of failure although it has completed 20,761 miles on one of our experimental chassis. The age of this battery is 19 months, and the subsequent bench discharge capacity results have been satisfactory. Returning to the 3c battery, we have opened up for examination three of the cells, two containing Contd. | ||
