DERBY

Dear Sirs,

Following the visit of your Mr. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Royce to our works on the 17th instant, when he asked for a report regarding EW6 Magneto No.99171 sent to us under your Packing Note WG{Mr Gill - Financial Director}/F.19199 of 13th December, we beg to say that we find the only fault with this magneto is, that a piece of steel swarf had found its way into the space between the armature and the tunnel carrying the pole shoes, and had scored both the armature and the tunnel.

This had caused the impression mentioned in your letter of December 12th, that the machine had developed an armature rub, and the first examination also appeared to indicate this, but on further examination the real cause was found and on re-checking the measurements of the parts they were found to be such as to give a normal air gap between them.

We regret that this fault should have occurred, but the magneto is an early experimental one sent to you for electrical tests, and the trouble is not one which is at all likely to arise in machines made by the usual methods of production of magnetos for your goodselves.

Yours faithfully
for and on behalf of

NORTH & SONS LTD.

Director.
