Shock Damper Body F.59948 P.2. 20/25 & Bentley.

At the request of the Experimental Department we have modified the above damper body, as shown by N. Sch.3975 herewith, in order to anticipate an increase of maximum damping on the rear of the Phantom in the near future.

Of the alterations shewn the most important is the thickening of the end and of the barrel at the counterbore. This is urgent as it should be incorporated in the next batch of castings.

The larger plug boss and webs are to strengthen the end of the barrel where drilled for the oilway and are part of the above important modification.

Of the other two modifications the lengthened boss for the bottom bolt is provided to enable a full size nut to be used and to make it easier to tighten this nut well.

The modification to the end cover stud centres is to give more washer width between the studs and the bore.

The last two modifications should be introduced at the first convenient opportunity.
