1300 23rd June 1941. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}13/ST.{Capt. P. R. Strong} Messrs. The Adamant Engineering Co. Ltd., Dallow Road, L U T O N. Attention of Commandant F.G Matravers Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 19th instant. We should be glad if you would make six cams for us. We would like you to do your best to make three of these cams with 0.030 depth of case and the other three with 0.050 case. The end cones should be ground before hardening. We will send you an official order for these cams. We note your remarks about the use of a larger gear to give a greater margin of safety on the job. We agree that we may eventually have to do this, but under the present conditions, we fortunately have some time to explore the possibilities of increasing the capacity of the present gear. Therefore we feel that we should do this before taking the step which we both know to be a cure for the trouble. Yours faithfully, | ||
