S/AB/CB. Your Ref: Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 3rd May, 1939. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 1st instant, and much appreciate the way in which you have explained to us your present position in regard to the fitting of by-pass filters. In response, we would say that we certainly think we can offer you some marked advantages. In connection with stationary Diesel engines the Stream-Line filter has come to be regarded as almost standard practice by the Diesel manufacturers, and extensive experience has proved that the essential feature in connection with successful by-pass filtration is absolute efficiency rather than high filtration rate. We hope that you will be interested in the enclosed copy of a paper read before the Diesel Engine Users' Association, and especially the curves shown in figure three on page ten, which really summarize the case for our filter as against competitive equipment which appears very satisfactory at the outset due to high filtration rate, but relatively less satisfactory after prolonged operation. We quite realise that you will not lightly wish to undertake a further series of comparative tests, and we hope, therefore, that we may perhaps get together at some convenient opportunity for preliminary discussions. Yours faithfully, For STREAM-LINE FILTERS LIMITED. General Manager. Enc. Copy of Diesel Engine Users' Paper. ON AIR MINISTRY APPROVED LIST | ||
