EAC.II & IV.

Owing to output considerations Mr. Johnson

and I arranged that this model (EAC.II) should go forward for production as soon as possible, and it should be considered that it will be made in fairly large numbers for some time without serious alterations which might produce Works delay or purchasers dissatisfaction.

The conditions I desired to make it of a more attractive proposition are to put the starter motor on the engine and so clear up another cause of confusion about the gearbox as well as the slightly unorthodox operating necessary - i.e. the gears must be out and the clutch must be in.

I understand that E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} has finished off the starter motor operating parts, and EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} should make it his chief work to get the windings satisfactory and let me know if he wants my help more than I have indicated.

R. {Sir Henry Royce}
