Dear Robotham,

We have been working on the question of your lamps, but have to admit that any design embodying an adjustable reflector within the outer casing loses the slick appear-ance which is so necessary for a high grade lamp, the gap between the reflector and the front glass, to my mind, quite ruining the whole effect.

I am enclosing our suggestion for adjusting the lamp body in relation to the wing and practically the only need for this adjustment will be to correct any errors in wing manufacture which would thrown the lamp face off the vertical if it were secured rigidly as we had originally thought. We have taken some measurements and find that we can hold the beams well within plus and minus 2° by ordinary manufacturing methods and I doubt if this error would be observable visually and certainly, I should imagine, would be less than would have to be contemplated with a solid mounting.

I think you will agree that without the use of a dentist's mirror the suggest-ed{J. L. Edwards} mounting would look equivalent to a solid one and would have many obvious advantages for ready adjustment without interfering with the inside of the lamp in such cases as distorted wings which might occur due to accident.
