In discussing this matter with Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} it is evident we have got the improvements in the axle forging itself already in existence on axles being fitted to chassis. One point which has been tested was the modified pivot with a plain bearing at the top in place of th roller bearing. This, however, cannot be applied just as it stands, as friction is required in excess of what this plain bush will give, and this friction was provided by West WitteringHenry Royce's home town in Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}'s latest scheme which is still under consideration and has yet to be tested out. Since we are now making case hardened bearing surfaces both on the pin and the bush by the addition of the outer sleeve on the pivot pin made in C.H.N.S., the present scheme with friction on the bottom pivot as produced and tested out by the Experimental Dept. is perfectly satisfactory for "K" Series.
