1280 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. c. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} c. G/Rb.{R. Bowen} c. RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.1/MH.{M. Huckerby}12.2.38. Referring to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.14/MH.{M. Huckerby}27.1.38 and Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.8/MH.{M. Huckerby} 31.1.38, it should be pointed out that although the B.III radiator matrix to EB.3513 bought from Marstons will cost approx. £3.6s.3d. as against £3.4s.0d. for the 'M' series Bentley matrix to EB.3373, representing an apparent increase of 2/3d, these figures are not really directly comparable, since the B.III matrix to EB.3513 includes side plates, while the B.II one to EB.3373 does not include side plates, which are made and fitted at these works. The actual cost of the B.II side plates is 1/11d, while that of fitting them to the matrix is approximately 2/6d. Hence in effect the B.III matrix at the moment represents a saving of approx. 2/2d. over the B.II matrix. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. | ||
