S.Cl. (crossed out) Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} (crossed out) Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} O.W./CS (crossed out) 536 25/30 HP. CHASSIS - RE: USE OF 'L' SHAPE RING. Further to BY.8/G.12.8.36. instructing that the centre ring on the 25/30 should be replaced by L. shape ring E.61123, and to the earlier suggestion that the first rings should be handed on to Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} for him to deal with chassis before delivery to the customers, in going over the records of oil consumption we find that the position is better now than it was, and that therefore there is no need to pull down engines about to be despatched in order to fit the L. shape ring. Will the Works, therefore, absorb the rings which should have been handed to Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} by immediately applying these to production. Handwritten note: Swdl{Len H. Swindell} - Will you please find out when the first car fitted with these comes on Test and check that the rings are BY giving the required result. We should also get hold of some production rings & try in our own cars (21GW) | ||
