X.3555 - R.R. DISTRIBUTION BOARD X.2515

We return herewith the R.R. distribution board handed to us for our inspection and test.

The points on this which you may be able to improve before it is fitted to chassis 4 EX are as follows :-

(1). The operation of fixing the wires to the terminals is rather fiddling. You might be able to devise some means by which this can be more easily done, the principal defect being in the removal of the washers.

(2). The two inspection plug sockets are not parallel and the two insulating sleeves for these do not go on the same distance.

(3). The spring clips which receive the fuse holders are not satisfactory, appearing to be too soft and liable to lose their grip of the fuse holder. This has been especially the case owing to the fact that the contacts of the three fuse holders are not quite of the same thickness, and there has not been sufficient springing on the spring clips to make up for this when the fuse holders have been interchanged.

(4). The insulating material of one of the fuse holders has broken due to the heat of the fuse wire charring this material.
