In view of the likely high cost of the bearing unit of the Vauxhall type water pump with which we are now experimenting, it is desirable that we should have an alternative bearing unit so that we can if desirable, retain the other features of the special pump which you detailed for us and yet avoid the cost of the ball bearing unit if necessary. Will you, therefore, please detail for us the necessary pieces for a bearing using a single long Tufnol "Whale" bush with positive water lubrication of same and with Vauxhall type packless gland situated at coupling end of pump shaft.

The details should, of course, use a pump casing casting from the existing pattern, and we would like to have these as soon as possible since weshall stop the second Vauxhall type pump to incorporate this bearing.
