To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} From EH. RE OIL AND FUEL PRESSURE GAUGES. X.3547 With reference to the last pair of gauges which have been submitted by J.W. Benson Ltd., I see that the hand on the oil gauge doesnot stop at zero but in the off position falls very much below. I consider this looks bad. I think also that the gauges would look better with-out the red lettering also there is no need, nor do we wish to have the red mark at 2 lbs. on the full gauge because now our pumps are supposed to pump up 3 lbs. We prefer the gauge with no red marks on at all. The finish of the gauges does now compare better with the Weston gauge, but the finish in plates have not as good finish as we should like. It is also noticeable that the scale on both gauges is smaller than on the first gauges that they submitted to us. We consider we should ask them to make the scale as large as possible. Another point is that these gauges are smaller than Salters; it might be advisable to keep them the same size for interchangeability. EH. | ||
