Dear Sirs,

Regarding the dry sample three compartment one piece moulded container and cell which you sent to us at our suggestion for inspection, we have carefully inspected these and in general are very pleased with the various items of design.

The only point that strikes us as a result of this examination is, that the width of the plates might, with advantage, be a shade less to allow for the expansion which inevitably takes place during the life of the cell, and which may result in bulging of the container case.

Another point in connection with these standard cells has come to our notice during the last day or two, it is not however a result of the present inspection, and could not have been, because the feature in question is not an observable one. The fastening of the terminal stud in the lug used to be of a deeper type and partly secured by two cross pins. In any case it is a departure of which we cannot recall having been made cognisant, and the complaint has reached us from out Test Dept. that the present lugs are liable to be loosened and to come away in tightening up the terminal nuts. In making this remark it is to be understood that we are speaking relatively of the strength of the resistance of the two types of terminal stud to such force as is usually applied by our Test Dept. people and which never results in the loosening of one of the old type of studs. We feel that we, as a firm, are
