BS{A J. Barnes - Assistant Manager}/RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}) FROM HDY.{William Hardy} HDY{William Hardy}2/W/31.1.33. Y235 SHOCK DAMPERS. With reference to your telephone message about distortion of the damper shaft when the bolt is tightened, we think that the best way to get over this difficulty is to make the shaft solid under the lever boss by drilling from each end, as shown on N. Sch. 3661. herewith. If the appearance of the open end hole is objected to it can be closed with a sheet metal disc, but we do not think that this is necessary.
