I beg to acknowledge receipt of your telegram as follows : -

SHEPARD AND CROFTS SHOULD RETURN ALSO OTHER SPARE MEN WILL WIRE INSTRUCTIONS WITH REGARD TO THE CAR - HIVES.

to which we replied : -

BOLTON AND ROBINSON RETURNING IMMEDIATELY SHEPARD AND CROFTS AS SOON AS CROFTS IS FIT TO TRAVEL - LIDSEY.

Bolton and Robinson started off for Derby last night. Crofts is not well enough to travel for a few days yet. He is still in bed. He should be well enough to go home by the end of the week, provided that no complications set in. Shepard will be all right again by then, and will be able to help Crofts with his luggage, etc. It would not be wise for Crofts to travel alone. He has had a very rough time due to his wounds not being properly washed before being stitched up in the first place, and also due to having been injected with an overdose of anti-tetanus injection.

We lost mileage yesterday on 9 PK owing to windscreen breakage again, and to-day owing to Induction pipe fracture, but the car will be on the road again to-morrow.

A.J.LIDSEY.
