IN-EFFECTIVE BRAKES

Examination of Foot Brake Shoes on 4EX.

Speedometer Reading 7038.
(Shoes fitted and bedded OK at speedometer reading 2399)

The bedding of the shoes on the drums was as shown in the sketches. Figures indicate thousandths of an inch.

NEAR SIDE SHOES.

Top shoe glazed at toggle end.
Bottom shoe well glazed all over.
Bottom shoe worn more than top shoe.
Drum shows slight ridges and runs slightly eccentric.

OFF SIDE SHOES.

Top shoe glazed mostly at toggle end.
Bottom shoe glazed all over.
Bottom shoe worn considerably more than top shoe.
Drum shows slight ridges.

Both off side shoes are worn more than near side.
Mileage since shoes were bedded OK = 4639.
