Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} stated that there were actually about 40 chassis in existence, some of which were actually delivered and all of them are potential sources of complaint, particularly the earlier ones.

This fact must be faced and the Experimental Department must say what shall be done with them to effect improvement.

Sales must be told that some complaints are probable, and at the present moment we are not in a position to do anything which is definitely better, which has been properly tested and standardised.

It was agreed that all that can be done at present is to make the best job we can with what we have, and hope to receive information from Experimental Department at an early date to enable us to effect improvement on customers cars if and when complaints are made.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said he expected to make certain proposals soon which may probably include modified valve springs, modified spring drive, brake and ground timing gears.

It was decided to order immediately the necessary equipment to produce ground gears.

(EJJ. instructed to do this).

20/25 Gear Box.

The question of third speed coming out of mesh was discussed.

BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} reported that we have in process about 120 shafts which cannot be used if E's latest scheme is adopted. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} said that he could give an intermediate scheme which would enable these 120 shafts to be used. This would mean reducing the contact base from 3" to 2" and E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} believes this would be effective and satisfactory.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said a standardisation sheet was going round for the 3" base scheme.

Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} questioned whether it was wise to adopt an intermediate scheme and it was decided that no intermediate scheme be introduced and if necessary the 120 shafts be scrapped.

It was decided that E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will draw up an explanatory note which will be circulated with the standardisation sheet, so that the signatories will understand the situation fully.
