Dear Sirs,

Your ref: ROY {Sir Henry Royce} /GEA7/EB.8.1.29.

Referring to your letter of the 8th instant, we are pleased to note that the screw Jack proposed for your 40/50-HP. Car is generally satisfactory.

Regarding the weight, we have gone very carefully into this question, but we fear we cannot make any reduction on this size of Jack. We understand that you require a Jack to lift 2-tons, and that it must be capable of doing this reliably. On this bases, we do not feel it would be wise to reduce the strength of any part.

Your present standard Dunlop Jack has been tested in our works, and it failed to lift 2-tons, and we consider its maximum safe load much less than 2-tons. This fact is, of course, important when comparing the two Jack.

In reply to the last paragraph of your letter, we hope to despatch a further sample Jack for your 20 H.P. car tomorrow.

Assuring you always of our best attention, we remain,

Yours faithfully,

for TANGYES LIMITED.,

(Sgd) W.D.Dorman.
