X4698 Exptl. Dept. HS {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Les.17/KW. 24th April, 1934. The Super Oil Seal Manfg. Co. (England) Ltd., River Lee Road, Greet, Birmingham, 11. Dear Sirs, We have now tested two of your Gland Seals, No. 206112, for the Shock Damper Shafts, as stated in our letter dated the 6th of March. Both these glands have been worse than our standard bellow asbestos gland for leaking oil. Frankly we are very disappointed as we had imagined that your seals would retain the oil. The temperature rises up to about 75°C. The oil we use is Wakefield's Castrol F. {Mr Friese} We hope you will be able to give a satisfactory explanation. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
