X6055 BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} /EV. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} DA {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} /EV {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} 1/M2. 9. 31. C. to SG. {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} HS. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 25HP. BATTERY BOX SUSPENSION. We have already sent to you N. scheme 3333, shewing a longitudinal girder to replace the cantilever support at the rear end, as shewn on the scheme for a stock battery and metal box - N. scheme 3278. Such a scheme as N. sch. 3333. will be essential on J.3. to enable low seat bottoms to be obtained, and we wish it to be tested as soon as possible on the 25HP. However, its virtue is not apparent on the 25HP. owing to the brake ropes being so far above the axle centre that they force the transverse beam up as high as the tube of the present scheme has to rise to pass over the axle. We are anxious to get the battery and box of N.s 3278. on 'U' series - 25HP. and therefore send you N.sch.333. shewing a tubular rear support which should be used if it is preferred, but N.sch.3333. (which is R's suggestion) must be tested. DA {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} /EV. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
