With regard to the modifications which it has been decided are necessary to these lamps and which are recorded in your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wstll/MA3.4.35, you will be interested to see the attached copy of letter received from Messrs Lucas on this subject. They evidently realise that the modification of the lamps, of which there will be a great many, is going to be an expensive item, and are now suggesting that these modifications are not altogether necessary. Perhaps you would please study their remarks and let me know what the answer is. We do not propose to discuss the matter with them, because it is one which you have dealt with all along, and we should only be satisfied if you have agreed with them on any modification of the present programme.
