121-XJ - T. Barclay.

With reference to Bs{A J. Barnes - Assistant Manager}/KW4.6.31. We have had considerable correspondence with the India Tyre Co. on this matter. We attach a copy of a letter which we received from Mr. Beatty, sales manager, of the India Tyre Co., in which you will note that they are going to be more careful in the future in the way they write to customers.

The India people admitted that it was a ridiculous statement to make in view of the fact that hundreds of our customers were running 6.75 tyres with wellbase rims.

We took the matter up with Dunlops who admitted that there was a difficulty with the lip of the cover in these large size tyres, but they had successfully overcome the trouble by altering their process of manufacture, and in order to further improve the job we have now standardised a different shape of rim.

We hope that this will enable you to explain to Mr. Barclay that the India Tyre Co's statement was an exaggeration of a known trouble which Dunlops have successfully tackled, but which the India Tyre Co. apparently wish to dismiss by blaming the wheel.
