RE 40/50 CHASSIS - THERMOSTAT.

According to the information given on Lec.1143 and also in Mr Royce's memo E1/G23.9.19., the assembled contracted length of the Sylphon Tube is 1.575 and the extended length is 1.925 giving a working stroke of .350. It is also mentioned that the length of the tube in its normal unstressed condition is 1.750 which is half stroke and corresponds to a temperature of 75°C. This setting is instructed on our arrangement drawing E.18760 by asking for .175 lift with the temperature of the circulating water as 75°C.

We understand that all the Experimental Shop chassis have had the Thermostat set to commence opening the main valve at a temperature of 75°C, but on looking through the Experimental Dept. files we cannot trace any record of the setting.

Will Mr Day or Experimental Dept. please let us have confirmation of this as soon as possible so that our instructions to works may be modified accordingly.
