HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}/6/HA.24. 3. 33. RAYSPORT CRANKSHAFT. x4553. Replying to your T.1/4.18.3.33. We do not consider the Peregrine crankshaft suitable for the supercharged engine. With a damper hub and supercharger similar to the Alfa Romeo the master periods will be below 5000 R.P.M. and would often be reached on the road particularly on the indirect gears. The master period can be raised by using a crankshaft of larger dimensions or by having 5 instead of 3 bearings. The Alfa Romeo 6 cyl 2350 cc engine has a 10 bearing disc web crankshaft with 75 mm journals which would probably put the master period above the speed range of the engine.
