RE: STEEL WHEELS FOR B.3 and B.50.

We do not like the steel wheels as designed for 8-B-5 for the following reasons :-

(1). Removing cap chips, chromium and paint. (reported by GWH. {George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} ).

(2). Re-entrant angle between the wheel rim and the central cone cannot be cleaned and painted, also it holds dirt which is not removed by washing.

(3). The wheel pressing has a surface not eminently suitable for a high class paint finish.

We do not know how to improve item (1) in a reasonable manner, and in view of the above objections we suggest that we go for a complete disc.

The Americans appear to be moving along similar lines.

Due to our front hubs the Talbot Fixing is not readily applicable, and we would like to try a scheme such as is used on the Cadillac 60. Special, whereby a complete disc is held on to the wheel by a large spring ring, locked into the extreme outer lip of the wheel rim. We feel this must call for a slight change in the design of the rim section at the lip, and would be glad if particulars of the Cadillac wheel and disc could be obtained. We would also like to ask the wheel makers if they know of such a disc fixing, and if so, can they supply a rim.
