HOTEL DU GRAND MONARQUE. LAMOTTE-BEUVRON. Loire & Cher. To. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} c. Sr. Paris. (struck through) 35.EX. - PHANTOM III. This car was involved in an accident at 6 o'clock yesterday evening on the way from Paris to Château-roux, three miles before reaching Lamotte-Beuvron. A led horse, the property of Monsieur Jules Lecoeur, horse dealer of Lamotte-Beuvron, was killed and the man in charge of it, Monsieur Georges Dreux was taken to hospital. He was knocked about by the horse, receiving blows on the chest, stomach, and leg and slight facial injuries. He was reported this morning to be better. P.H.Rose was driving and his report is enclosed herewith. He had been driving in a careful and reasonable manner since taking over the car outside Paris. J.A. Behnan was sitting next to him and has received bruises on the chest. I was seated at the back behind Rose, and the collison was between the horse's hindquarters and the door and rear quarter panel at my side. The application of the brakes was the first intimation I had of the accident. I received slight cuts on the head. The bodywork was badly damaged, and the position of the steering wheel in the straight ahead direction has changed through about 60° since the accident, attributed to a displacement of the rear wheels relative to the front. The reason for this is not apparent as there is no visible damage to the chassis or axles. The car is detained by the Police here, until all formalities have been completed. We have however, been in touch with Sr. who is assisting us in every possible way. --------------------- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}/IMW.{Ivan M.
