Re: Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}8/R.{Sir Henry Royce}

Dear Mr. Robotham:

Your letter of November 16th to Mr. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} B. Webb has been referred to the writer.

After considering the low pressure operating conditions of the General Filter on Rolls Royce Cars, we are taking the liberty of sending you a half dozen cartridges which should make a much better showing on these low pressures. This cartridge will pass a great deal more oil at a given temperature than the number four cartridge which you previously tested.

In order that you may compare the possibilities of the General Filter with other filters on the market in your country, we are quoting the following prices:

1,000 ....................$1.50 each
5,000 .................... 1.30 each
10,000 ................... 1.25 each

These prices are for the new type filter complete with cartridge. The cartridge cost will be thirty cents each in quantities of 1,000 or over. These prices are F.O.B. Detroit, plus any special boxing cost required for export.

We believe that you will find these prices very favorable in comparison with other filters, and especially after the initial installation is made, the cost of servicing is very low as it only requires one minute to change the cartridge.

We note by your test report that the test was for a period of 15,000 miles. This seems much too great a distance in order to keep the oil in good condition at all times. The average practice in this country is to change the cartridge at approximately 5,000 miles, regardless of whether the oil is changed or not.

We hope that you will see your way clear to make a test on these number five cartridges.

Very truly yours,
GENERAL FILTERS, INC.
A.{Mr Adams} D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Redner
