We note that you wish us to consider your drawing No.EW.1416 in place of EB.1085, and we confirm that there will be no price modification for the experimental pattern or castings. We see that there is now a spiral gear incorporated on the end of the new camshaft, and we consider the size of this quite inadequate for use in "Monikrom"; 14.D.P. being the minimum size we recommend. We suggest that a steel ring might be shrunk on to the shaft in the position shown, and the gear teeth cut in the steel. You will appreciate that the experimental shafts, being produced from a wood pattern, will have rather more machining allowance left on than would be the case in production, and it will be necessary to machine the shaft between each cam. We shall allow .047" extra metal all around the cams for rough and finish grinding, and in order to produce the correct shape on the pattern we should be glad if you would let us have a drawing of the cam form. | ||
