3a. (150 H) (V.V. 782 27.3.14) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 0442. /. 3. To M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} R9/P 22. 4. 14. travel of the cutters, and probably 2" or 3" for backing for clearance of turning. The counter sinking or bell mouthing of the cylinder is a very simple operation, only short travel. Do not worry about the driving of the counter shafts, which we can soon master I am sure. In your memo of 2.4.14, page 3, you say "The housing for the chain wheel shafts is made of three castings, the central casting is connected to the 5" spindle by a steel frame work." This is how we are arranging it. I do not think it is possible to use a separate stand as stated later, because it has to travel back and forth about 12". X It appears to me, referring to page 4, that the planetory motion is rather wide and clumsy, and you must make provision for locking of the nuts, which I fear would be sure to work loose. You have too many screw driver screws also. When you get a little nearer to finality, I will go over these, and get rid of many I hope. R.{Sir Henry Royce} X Perhaps you meant it to travel along by link connecting rod. | ||
