Phantom III Cost Reductions - Hand Brake Equaliser.
Section 6090 - N.Sch.4558.
With reference to your proposed scheme WKS.174, we regret that we do not think that the dowel pin location biting into the groove and the oilite bush is sufficiently good for taking the reverse load due to acceleration of the braking parts downwards.
We also fear that the washer on the lower end retained by the cheese headed screw will come undone under the same conditions.
We should like to know if the main economy in your suggestion lies in substituting the oilite bushing for the needle rollers, or in eliminating the acme thread as we could introduce a modification along either of these directions.
E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
