Gearbox Front Suspension. - Phantom 3.

We send herewith N.Sch.4652 which shows modified rubbers for the above.

In order that the rubbers may be changed or adjusted or the height of the box adjusted without removing the box from the frame the arms on the gearbox have been lengthened to bring the main bolts clear of the flange of the cross.

Stop plates are provided for the bracket bolts to facilitate the removal of the brackets which is necessary should the rubbers need attention, but is not necessary for the assembling or removal of the box in the frame.

The rubbers can be fitted in the arms of the box before the box is placed in the frame.

Wider holes for the gearbox arms in the web of the frame cross are necessary and because of this the countershaft between the brake pedal and the servo requires modification as we show.

The adjacent holes in the cross are also modified.

Where it is required for experimental purposes, to use existing frames, plates may be bolted to the web of the cross for the attachment of the new pieces.

It will be seen that with the rubbers as arranged there is no need for any initial compression as no parts can become separated if none is provided. Consequently we suggest that initial compression should not be provided.

The angle of the transmission relative to the frame is to be accommodated in the brackets as at present. These brackets are different top and bottom but are the same for the two sides of the car,
