- 16 - HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}1/VS.{J. Vickers}6.9.37. Carburetter Air Silencer. Complete to LOP.EW.868. The inner unit of the Silencer, comprising inner pipe, filter frame, etc., has become loose in the Silencer Shell. This complaint should receive immediate attention, since it is a common fault with Bentley Silencers; Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Whyman has this in hand. Ignition Distributor. Standard Delco-Remy Distributor. General condition satisfactory. Flywheel and Clutch. Complete to LOP.GW.962. Standard 25/30 H.P. Borg and Beck 11" A.3 Spring Centre Clutch, fitted with 12 springs, identification colour green. A large amount of oil has been absorbed by the friction linings, due to leakage from No. 7 bearing. Average wear on the linings, produced in Borg and Beck special facing material, .023. It should be noted when ordering further clutches for the Wraith car that the dynamic balancing holes should be put in prior to balancing by the makers, otherwise these may interfere with the unit balancing holes. The Flywheel and Starter Ring are produced in 6% Carbon Steel. The general condition of this section is satisfactory. ---------- In view of the short time at our disposal, it has not been possible to conduct a dimensional check on each unit; the major items, however, have been covered. We should appreciate an early reply from the Design Office regarding the queries raised in this report. HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} | ||
