- 15 - HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}1/VS.{J. Vickers}6.9.37. Connecting Rods. Complete to LOP.E.60840, incorporating the following :- Connecting Rod Bearings in Tin Alloy to Ex.28171. (AC.6 Nack) These bearings were so designed as to obviate the use of the normal type of metal liner, i.e. produced in two complete halves. No flanges are provided for location, this being effected by means of a steel liner which is not metalled. With the exception of No. 6 Bearing, this section is in satisfactory condition. Exhaust Fittings. Complete to LOP.EW.1046. It was observed that the exhaust manifold EW.1026, produced in cast iron, was distorted on the Cylinder Head Facing .012 to .037; furthermore, the lugs were broken off EW.1029 Anchor Plate in 14 SWG. S/N. material and EW.1030 Clip in 12 SWG. Mild Steel. See Ex.I.199. Water Pump Drive. Incorporating the following :- Ex.27889. Shaft. E.27891. Coupling. This unit was assembled with .003 interference between the plain diameter of the shaft and the coupling, and pegged in position, the scheme proving quite satisfactory. Will Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} arrange to have detail drawings modified to suit this scheme. Main Oil Filter. To LOP.EW.1019, produced by R.R. Condition generally satisfactory. Suction Oil Filter. Assembled to LOP.EW.941. The filter was clogged with packing material used for blanking off the oil holes in the crankpin. continued. | ||
