TBB2/L4312. Mr Hives for Mr Platford. Re Run on Experimental Chassis 1718. on February 25th. 1912. ---------- With reference to the items mentioned on your card, I was able to observe with respect to the following :- (1) Underslung Springs. The springing in the rear seats was in my estimation poor. This could be accounted for to some extent by the light load carried. The tendency to roll, even with this light load, was quite appreciable and more marked than with our standard springing. The chief objection with the general springing of the car was not so much that the heavy shocks were felt, but that minor road vibrations were extremely objectionable. (2) Marshall Tyre jackets. These jackets in this run did not appear to give so much safeguard against skidding as I have previously found to be the case. The roads were bad, but I did not think any worse than when I previously had some experience with these jackets. I understood from the driver that they had some tendency toward front wheel skids although I do not personally see the connection. (Handwritten in left margin: X/1030) | ||
