-2- It is quite obvious that until the defect in the engine mounting is remedied these troubles will be present, but it does not help the Managing Director to be told daily of trouBles which this defect produces. When you report that the steering column shakes, we expect you to tell us in what way the shaking is occurring. It should be possible by riding on the wing to say whether the offside member is dithering torsionally or vertically, and also whether the column would be better if it were supported elsewhere. When you say in your report of the 27th. that clonks on torque reversal are very noticeable standing along-side car, it does not give us the slightest idea to what clonks you are referring. Is it trouble previously reported on the propeller shaft.? Briefly, the Daily report is a means of telling the Managing Director what progress is being made on the car and not a catalogue of faults. Obviously, the faults will exist on the car day after day unless you do something about them. I will discuss the matter more fully with you when I come to Chateauroux. We made a great effort to get the final petrol system on the Wraith before it left Derby, so that you could make full use of this during the hot weather. You should make the most of this opportunity. With regard to P.III sparking plugs situation, we are sending you out some Champion plugs; if the N.A.8. will run without pre-igniting, we should prefer you to use these as they are less liable to oil up under traffic conditions. We do not consider it is any use your running KLG plugs any further until we have something better to offer you. You should be reasonable about pre-ignition, provided the car does not lose speed, a certain amount of popping in the silencer when the ignition is switched off after a long blind does not matter.
