ABFORD HOUSE, VICTORIA LONDON, S.W.1 PERSONAL Telephone: VICTORIA 5520 Head Office: 135 EAST 42nd STREET NEW YORK, U.S.A 7th February 1933. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} W. Hives Esq., Aero Engine Dept., Rolls Royce Ltd., Nightingale Road, DERBY. Dear Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, I had hoped to come and see you sometime this week, but I have to go to Germany on Thursday and cannot manage it. I have been away for some considerable time now, touring round Italy, Germany and France, but I hope to come and see you as soon as I get back from this trip and will write you accordingly. I wonder whether you would be so kind as to reconsider, with Mr. Rowledge, the possibility of giving us some sort of O.K. on the use of a "leaded" fuel in your engines, because this would help us and yourselves considerably in the present situation abroad. I am enclosing herewith a full copy of the correspondence which I have sent direct to Dorey, on the subject of Esthonian aviation fuel. You will note that this is practically of no use to you and I can only suggest that he (Dorey) gets in touch with the big oil companies when he arrives there and fixes up his fuel requirements direct with them. All the best, Yours sincerely, F.{Mr Friese} R.{Sir Henry Royce} Banks FRB/WNT | ||
