X.664 - BATTERIES FOR 40/50 CHASSIS.

Exide 6BXE15/SPL.

Previous standard battery but with exaggeratedly more robust plate grids. Three of these were received on 20.3.24. Two have been on chassis service in the Test Dept., and all three are still giving satisfactory results. The internal resistances on the high rate discharge capacity tests are not, of course, quite as good as our up-to-date standard, but the batteries should show whether still more robustness in the present standard plate grids would be of value.

Accu-Slem.

Though these batteries have given good results in many ways, we consider that all the good points which they contain are now incorporated in our present standards, and having learnt something from the testing of these, we have now dropped any further investigations, most of the batteries having virtually failed on account of their not incorporating certain other features which were mentioned in our previous report EFCl/T17.10.24, which also exist in our present standard.
