Ph.III Gearbox.

Will you please rebuild box No. 4-HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, which has been taken out of 31-EX, to the following specification.

(1) New 3rd, 4th and 2nd speed sliding pieces with small clearance. We are anxious to have new pieces rather than copper plate the old ones.

(2) 8° angle cones for all gears.

(3) Stiffen up inner cones as on N.Sch.4661. Also stiffen up outer cones by making them 50% thicker all over.

(4) Inner piece to have fine thread surface and straight slots a la{L. A. Archer} Buick.

(5) Outer cone to be rough diamond bored.

(6) Oil scoop to N.Sch.4708.

No drawings exist of the cones, which we shall be glad if you will detail.
